PLAYTYPE 2: SOFT DRINK SEQUINS

Process:

To collect materials for this Play type I collected soft drink cans. I firstly started by cutting the cans open and flattening them to create a flat surface. I then used a Fiskars Circle level punch to ensure I could replicate the large round PVC sequins using waste.

To make the sequin hole I used a sewing unpicker to create holes before piercing with a needle.

To secure the sequins onto the fabric, I threaded the sequin thrown the thread and then went back to through the fabric. I then went up through the right side of the stitch and back through the left side of the stitch. This technique allowed me to secure the sequin into place.

I used fabric chalk to create lines, so that the layers of sequins were in line with each other.

Each row had a different soft drink can of sequins.

MATERIALS: Soft Drink Cans, Recycled faux leather, leftover sewing thread, hole puncher.

This play type was one of my most successful play types. I felt as though i was able to replicate the large round flat PVC Sequins using cans. by layering each row with a different type of can I was able to achieve a three dimensional effect that could be used to add texture to a garment or create movement.
